Waterford is a village known for its church of St Michael and All Angels, which was built in 1871/2 by Robert and Isabel Smith. The church is particularly noteworthy for its Pre-Raphaelite stained-glass windows, created at the Morris & Co. factory. These windows, dating from the church’s original construction through to 1937, include the famous work “Miriam” by Edward Burne-Jones.  St Michael and All Angels is a fine example of Victorian architecture, constructed in the Early English Gothic style. The building was funded by Robert Smith, who owned the nearby Goldings estate, and all of the wood used in construction came from the estate. The roof is made of Broseley tiles, while the bell tower and octagonal spire are covered in cedar shingles. The porch is constructed of oak.
